⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The other day, as I lay down with a headache about to take a nap, I was struck with butterflies in my stomach for around fifteen seconds. I don’t know why they were there or what they were related to, but I haven’t felt butterflies in my stomach for years (I think it was 2015 the last time I felt butterflies of excitement). I haven’t been excited about anything in my life for a very long time. I’ve lost passion and love for life since I left university and recovered from ana and I pine for those days so much (which is dangerous place to be in recovery). I had a nasty relapse last year and I am struggling with missing my past and failing in my present. I hope I can work out what subconscious thought fluttered through my brain briefly a few days ago so I know what can possibly bring excitement in my life but, for now, I’ll just sit here with myself and continue searching for fulfilment and purpose. I want to feel light, I want to laugh and have fun, I want to have meaningful conversations with people, I want to entertain people and I want self-acceptance. I want to drown out my toxic self-hatred, depression and eating disorder and live life with less stress and severity. (That awkward moment when you post the wrong instagram caption with the wrong image. I’m clearly very tired this Monday morning.) T.E. Hume was an aesthetic philosopher and ‘father of imagism’. These selected writings focus largely on his commentary on Modernism and art, although it does contain a few extracts from his language and linguistic analyses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Despite having specialised in Modernism for my MSc, I don’t believe I’ve ever read much of T.E. Hume before (I only read his contributions to BLAST and Notes on Language and Style). His writing style varies quite starkly from essay to essay which I wasn’t expecting, and one essay in particular is in dire need to grammatical editing (but that’s just my picky editorial side sneaking out). Fake bookshopping 📚 life on a no-buy year continues, but it doesn’t mean you can’t stand outside a bookshop for a photo 😜 @philosophy.pom was very well behaved on her whirlwind trip to York - she handled the tight alleyways without panicking and people left her alone (which I was SO grateful for. Bless those who don’t come into personal spaces and touch dogs without consent). I am turning 28 this year. I’ve been abroad six times in my life, four of those times before the age of 15 and one was a French exchange. Mum didn’t have the money to take us on holidays like everyone else, and in adulthood, I don’t have the money either. Life, however, is short. So, I’ve decided to save up for a passport and I plan on saving up for a trip to Greece and Rome within the next two years.
